In the previous post,I introduced on how to own a website without any programming or webdesign knowledge and gave you some of the benefits you would get from owning your own website.
Here, i will take you step by step on what you need to do in order to end up with a working website which attracts great traffic.

1. You need to own a domains name. This is the "address" through which your website visitors will reach your website. Domain names are usually bought and cost not more that $20 from even the companies which sell at the highest price. However some domain extensions are a bit more expensive. See a price list of all domain extensions.

What you do is you visit the online domains shop and search your required domains name with the right domains extension which you desire. Notice that you may find it unavailable, meaning that someone is using it. You may change the domains extension and search again.

2. once you get your domains available, you can continue and purchase it through online payments like paypal and moneybookers or using your credit card and be able to own your domain name. It is important to note that the secret word that you get after purchasing your domain is the only identity that you own that domain name.

3. Once you buy or register your domain, it does not mean that it will be visible online. you will have to continue to the 4th step below.

4. After registering your domain, you will need to host it. This is what many domains and hosting companies call website hosting or webhosting or simply hosting. It refers to the acquisition of an online space where you can place your data (what is now called website or webpages).

Many website hosting companies offer different plans for hosting. You should be very careful to purchase a webhosting plan that will satisfy your needs. A nice space which will ensure that you will never have any problems will your website whether it has database, has huge traffic or not will have the features below:

Beware of some companies that tell you that they are giving you the above limited features when it is true that they are using your inability to interpret hosting plans to con you. In my experience, the linux and windows hosting plans provided by palstreet domains and hosting company are what someone needs to be able to host a website and their feature information is a true representation of what they actually offer.
